Marine Tank Platoon Live Fire Training

    Marines from the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit's Tank platoon, attached to Battalion Landing Team 1st Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, take part in live-fire training at Udairi Range in Kuwait City, July 26, 2012. The M1A1 Abrams tanks, an attachment from the Camp Lejeuene based 2nd Tank Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, fired a total of 24 high explosive rounds at targets scattered throughout the barren desert training range. The 24th MEU is currently deployed with the Iwo Jima Amphibious Ready Group as a U.S. Central Command theater reserve force providing support for maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility.
