Army engineers "ruggedized" the Fuel Efficient Demonstrator (FED) Bravo vehicle to offer the same capabilities as a High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV), but with a 90 percent jump in miles-per-gallon rating. They achieved this by using commercially available fuel-efficient technology, which has to be proven to meet military requirements. Here, they test the FED vehicle at the Chelsea Proving Ground in Southeast Michigan.
