U.S. Air Force Pararescueman William H. Pitsenbarger personally saved over 60 men during a Vietnam War mission at Cam My on April 11, 1966. Rather than take the last helicopter out, he stayed behind to help injured members of the U.S. Army’s 1st Infantry Division and was killed in action.

"The Last Full Measure" is a new movie set for release on January 24th. The film follows the efforts of Pitsenbarger's fellow PJ Tulley (played by William Hurt) to have his friend awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor more than three decades after his death.

Sebastien Stan (Bucky from the Avengers movies) plays Pentagon staffer Scott Huffman, the man tasked with investigating the Medal of Honor request. He interviews Pitsenbarger's parents (played by Christopher Plummer and Diane Ladd) and Army veterans who witnessed the PJ's valor (Samuel L. Jackson, Peter Fonda and Ed Harris).

We've got the first trailer for the movie below.

The movie was written and directed by Todd Robinson, an industry veteran who has been a supervising producer on the hit NBC series "Chicago P.D." In flashback scenes that portray the battle, Pitsenbarger is played by Jeremy Irvine, who's currently on TV as the star of the USA Network's action series "Treadstone."

In the movie version, Huffman uncovers the real reasons why Pitsenbarger hasn't been recognized before and must put his career on the line to have the PJ honored for his courage.

We'll have more details about the movie as the release date approaches.
