The Federal Long-Term Care Insurance Program is designed to reimburse for long-term care services at home or in a facility such as assisted living, adult day care or a nursing center. Qualified relatives of federally-employed individuals or retirees can apply even if the employee they are related to does not. The broad eligibility list includes spouses and same-sex domestic partners, parents and parents-in-law, and adult children older than 18.
