The TRICARE rules for receiving care while traveling depend on your plan and location: (1) if you have a medical emergency in the U.S., dial 911 or visit the nearest emergency room. You also need to notify your primary care manager (PCM) or regional contractor within 24 hours or by the next business day; (2) if you have a medical emergency overseas, visit the nearest emergency care facility or call the medical assistance number for your location. If you are admitted into the hospital, you will also need to call your PCM or the TOP Regional Call Center before checking out; (3) if you are stateside and do not know if you should to see to a doctor, call the Nurse Advice Line at 1-800-TRICARE (874-2273), Option 124/7.
