If you are a Reservist or National Guard called to active duty you may be worried about your health care coverage. Don't worry - you and your family are covered under Tricare.
Reserve and guard members as well as their families are eligible for government sponsored healthcare under the Tricare program. This is one of the best health insurance programs around.
Tricare Coverage
All members of the selected reserve have the option to purchase their health coverage from Tricare. Check out the Tricare Reserve Select fact sheet to learn more.
In addition, as a reservist you may be eligible for the Transitional Assistance Management Program (TAMP) upon demobilization.
Tricare While on Duty
When on military duty, Reserve Component (RC) members are covered for any injury, illness or disease incurred or aggravated in the line of duty. This includes traveling directly to or from the place where they perform military duty.
When ordered to active duty for more than 30 consecutive days, RC members and their family's heath and dental care needs are covered under several Tricare options:
